Role within eBRAIN-Health
Within eBRAIN-Health, Professor Allali’s team actively contributes to Work Package 5 (Data Sharing) and Work Package 9 (Use Cases). As part of their role in providing clinical data to the project’s database, the team is primarily involved in the retrieval, curation, and preparation of datasets for publication in the OpenMinds format, in full alignment with the project’s data-sharing principles and interoperability requirements.
Recent Results and Key Milestones
The team recently released the first version of their dataset for publication on the eBRAIN platform. The dataset, entitled the “Lausanne Memory Centre Imaging Dataset”, includes clinical record data from 2,754 patients presenting memory and cognitive complaints who underwent clinical consultation and evaluation at the Leenaards Memory Center, Lausanne University Hospital.
This release represents a significant milestone for the project, marking an important step toward the integration of high-quality clinical data within the eBRAIN infrastructure. By making this dataset available, the team supports broader access and collaborative research efforts in the field of cognitive neuroscience.
Hurdles and How They Were Overcome
The most stimulating challenge for the team has been ensuring full compliance with ethical frameworks, regulatory requirements, and data format specifications. Addressing these requirements has prompted a careful review and optimization of their data management workflow.
As part of the process, the team is currently working on the standardization of their clinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) database to align with the Brain Imaging Database Structure (BIDS) standard. This effort is aimed at improving interoperability and data quality, ensuring that the dataset can be effectively used within eBRAIN-Health Infrastructure.
Contribution to the eBRAIN-Health Research Platform
Prof. Allali’s team contributes to providing the necessary foundation for testing and validating the eBRAIN developments by using real-world clinical data. By supplying high-quality, well-structured datasets, the team enables the evaluation of the platform’s data integration, sharing, and analytical capabilities.
