Sapienza Researchers Showcase AI Platform for Dementia Risk Assessment
On 20 March 2026, at Sapienza University of Rome, researchers involved in the eBRAIN-Health project presented the SmartMe&You-TELEMAIA platform for home-based telemonitoring of dementia risk factors during the conference “Sapienza tells PNRR: Universities disclosed”.

The research activities behind the platform - coordinated by Prof. Claudio Babiloni
- were showcased to the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and to the Sole Administrator of “Resources for Rome,” Paolo Orneli.

The platform provides indices of sedentary behavior, sleep quality, dysfunctions in 24-hour heart rate regulation, and fluctuations in cognitive functions across the week of home telemonitoring in older individuals at risk of, or with, cognitive impairment due to age-related brain diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, etc.).

Data collection is based on a commercial smartwatch and serious games on tablets developed by Prof. Babiloni’s research group, with data analysis performed using artificial intelligence tools. The system supports early detection and continuous monitoring of cognitive decline.
